The tax collector's office is responsible for the billing and the collection of business personal property, motor vehicles, real estate taxes and related penalty charges.  In addition to the accuracy and the record keeping of each individual tax.  The office operates under the General Statues of Connecticut and City of Ansonia Ordinances.

Important Updates

Tax Season is near.  Please send payments to PO Box 253, Ansonia, CT 06401.  Tax payments are no longer being asked to be sent directly to the City's lockbox in Hartford at this time.  Sending payment to Hartford will delay the processing of your payment in a timely manner.  Please make sure to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for a receipt. Payments received can also be verified by visiting 

mytaxbill.net/ansonia  DO NOT PROCEED ONLINE IF YOU REQUIRE A MOTOR VEHICLE CLEARANCE OR HAVE A “BOOT” ON YOUR VEHICLE.

or clicking the Pay Taxes Online link below. Tax payments can also be dropped in the drop box near City Hall or paid online. Please contact the Assessor's Office at 203-736-5950 to submit proof of a plate or vehicle disposal.  


   

TAX COLLECTOR’S LEGAL NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS 
CITY OF ANSONIA 
Notice is hereby given to all taxpayers liable for payment of property taxes to the City of Ansonia on the grand list October 1, 2023. The second installment of Motor Vehicle, Personal Property, and Real Estate taxes, and the first and only installment for Motor Vehicle Supplemental are due and payable January 1, 2025, and become delinquent after February 3, 2025. 
Failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax, interest and penalties accrued. Late payments will be subject to interest from January 1, 2025 at the rate of 1.5% per month, 18% per annum, with a $2.00 minimum interest charge in accordance with the provisions of the General Statues of Connecticut, Section 12-130, 12-145, and 12-146. 
Payments may be mailed to PO BOX 253 Ansonia, CT 06401, paid at the tax collector’s office during our business hours Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or paid online at

The Tax Collector’s Office is now on the lower level of City Hall, down the hall from the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) Office. There is an entrance on the side of City Hall closest to Veteran’s Memorial Park in addition to a side ramp for elevator use if needed. 
A drop box is available for check payments only and is located on the side of City Hall‘s driveway closest to Veterans’ Memorial Park. Any payments dropped off in the drop box after office hours on the last day of the month will be considered late and interest and/or penalties will be charged. 
Please make checks payable to: Tax Collector, City of Ansonia and receipts will be returned to taxpayers that include a self-addressed stamped envelope with their payment.
